California K-8 Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Early Implementation Initiative
The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District (GJUESD) was selected as one of eight California school districts and two charter school organizations to participate in the California K-8 Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Early Implementation Initiative.
This initiative was developed by the K-12 Alliance at WestEd with collaboration with the State Board of Education, the California Department of Education and Achieve to serve as a demonstration project to help districts build capacity to fully implement the NGSS in grades K-8.
“We are pleased to receive this exciting investment for our children that aligns with our Local Control Accountability Plan and Bright Future for Galt Students Race To The Top initiative. We will now have added technical assistance and resources to support the implementation of these important science standards over a four year period,” commented Dr. Karen Schauer, GJUESD Superintendent.
In addition to teacher and administrator training, GJUESD will receive the opportunity to pilot test new digital and other instructional materials to support high quality science education.
