Building a Bright Future for All Learners - We Can Do It!
The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District (GJUESD) is committed to every learner’s success in learning and life. In December 2012, GJUESD was selected as one of sixteen districts in the nation to receive a Race to the Top (RTTT) District Grant to personalize learning to implement high quality instruction. We are accomplishing the Bright Future for Galt Students Initiative through the following significant changes:
1. Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs): Every student will have individualized learning plans based on learner strengths, needs and interests. At this time kindergarten through grade three students have a PLP. K-8 students will all have individual plans during the 2014-15 school year.
2. Blended Learning with Increased Technology Access: Chromebooks are available in K-8 classrooms to support online learning based upon individual needs, new assessments and project-based service learning activities. Full-time and part-time virtual coursework is provided as learning options at every school.
3. Bright Future Learning Center (BFLC) Program: Throughout the school year, BFLCs are open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The centers will be open from 8:00-3:00 throughout the summer, as well. The BFLCs support and extend personalized learning beginning with traditional library services with access to Chromebooks and Wi-Fi.
California is also working on new efforts to strengthen public education for every learner. School districts are working on multi-year Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs) that reflect the merging of local, state and federal efforts. Every school has involved teams for employees, parents and students to provide ideas and input into shaping this plan. Please see the progress of our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).
Through continued work together, our dedicated staff, caring parents and committed community will make the Bright Future for Galt Students Initiative a reality for all our students.
