Programs

Character Counts

The Galt Police Department has partnered with a number of our schools to bring the Character Counts Program to our grade school students.  The Character Counts Program strengthens young lives through character education by helping youth develop the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. The ten week program is currently offered in both 5th and 7th grade levels and is being taught as a collaborative effort between schools and law enforcement.  To learn more, contact Crime Prevention Officer T.J. Guidotti.

Neighborhood Watch

Parent and student opportunities to partner with the Galt Police Department:

You and your neighbors can help build a safer, friendlier, and more caring place to live.  Start a Neighborhood Watch to address immediate crime problems, focus on home security, and build neighborhood cohesion. You can also move into other crime prevention efforts as you partner with the Galt Police Department.

A Neighborhood Watch, Block Watch, Town Watch, Crime Watch - no matter what it's called, is the first building block to crime prevention and is the most effective and least costly answer to crime prevention and a stepping stone to a vibrant and healthy community.

The first step to forming a Neighborhood Watch is to form a planning committee of neighbors to discuss the Neighborhood Watch concept, gauge level of interest, identify needs, and discuss possible challenges.

If you would like to participate in this great opportunity to make Galt a safer and friendlier community please email TJ (email link above) with the following:

  1. Neighborhood you live in
  2. If you are willing to serve as a Block Captain
  3. Willingness to host a neighbor meeting with the Galt Police
  4. Best way to contact you (cell, email, etc.)

You can also contact TJ by calling the Galt Police Department at (209) 366-7021
